Learning the eBay "Lingo"

By Hendra Subrata Liu

Do you have trouble sometimes understanding when people talk about eBay? Don't worry, some of the jargon is really obscure, and you can't be expected to understand it until someone's told you what it means. Here's a little list of some of the most useful lingo to know, but you don't need to memorise it - even the most common jargon is only used relatively rarely.

Words
Bid: telling eBay's system the maximum price you are prepared to pay for an item.Dutch: an auction where more than one of an item is available.Feedback: positive or negative comments left about other users on eBay.Mint: in perfect condition.Non-paying bidder: a bidder who wins an auction but does not then go on to buy the item.PayPal: an electronic payment method accepted by most sellers.Rare: used and abused on eBay, now entirely meaningless.Reserve: the minimum price the seller will accept for the item. Shill bid: a fake bid placed by a seller trying to drive up their auction's price.Snail Mail: the post, which is obviously very slow compared to email.Sniping: bidding at the last second to win the item before anyone else can outbid you.

Abbreviations :
AUD: Australian Dollar. Currency.
BIN: Buy it Now. A fixed price auction.
BNWT: Brand New With Tags. An item that has never been used and still has its original tags.
BW: Black and White. Used for films, photos etc.
CONUS: Continental United States. Generally used by sellers who don't want to post things to Alaska or Hawaii.
EUR: Euro. Currency.
FC: First Class. Type of postage.
GBP: Great British Pounds. Currency.
HTF: Hard To Find. Not quite as abused as 'rare', but getting there.
NIB: New in Box. Never opened, still in its original box.
NR: No Reserve. An item where the seller has not set a reserve price.
OB: Original Box. An item that has its original box (but might have been opened).
PM: Priority Mail.
PP: Parcel Post.
SH: Shipping and Handling. The fees the buyer will pay you for postage.
USD: United States Dollars. Currency.
VGC: Very Good Condition. Not mint, but close.

The chances are that you'll find more specific jargon related to whatever you're selling, but it'd be an impossible task to cover it all here. If you can't figure one out from your knowledge of the subject, then type the term into a search engine, followed by the word 'ebay'. The chances are that someone, somewhere will have seen fit to explain it.

While it's good to be able to understand others' jargon, avoid using it unless you really need to (for example, if you run out of space in an item's title). Many people on eBay are not experienced buyers and you will lose them if you write a load of gobbledegook all over your auction.

By now, you're well prepared for eBay life, and you're probably ready to get started with that first auction. In the next email, we'll show you how to dive in and get started.

Staying Out of Trouble with eBay's Listing Policies

By Hendra Subrata Liu

Most of this is very obvious - of course you can't sell illegal things like drugs, pyramid schemes or stolen goods. Almost everything that is on the list is there because there is law against selling it. Some of the reasons, though, are a little strange.

The 'autographed items' entry, for example, doesn't mean that you can't sell anything that's been autographed - it just means that you can only sell it if it comes with a certificate of authenticity. The 'artifacts' entry prohibits you from selling Native American graves; 'celebrity material' means you can't sell unauthorised pictures of celebrities; 'embargoed goods' means that you can't sell anything that comes from Cuba… on and on it goes, and most of it you never need to know.

If your chosen kind of item seems to be on the list, though, and you're concerned that you might not be able to sell it, then check the full list at http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/items-ov.html to see whether the item is banned entirely or there are just a few restrictions.

eBay says it will remove any items that it believes violate copyright law, but in reality they don't have that many people to monitor the site. You will generally only find that your auction gets removed if someone decides to report you - and even then, they might not get around to it.

Really, buying and selling on eBay can sometimes feel more complicated than it really is, thanks to all the rules surrounding it - not to mention the jargon. Our next email is a 'jargon buster', to help you learn the language of eBay.

A Beginner's Guide to the Different eBay Auction Types

by Hendra Subrata Liu

Over the years, eBay has introduced all sorts of different auction types, in an effort to give people more options when they buy and sell their things on eBay.

For every seller who doesn't like the idea that their item might sell for a far lower price than they intend, there's another who wants to shift hundreds of the same item quickly. eBay tries to cater to all tastes. This email gives you an overview of the different kinds of auctions and their advantages for you.

Normal Auctions
These are the bread-and-butter of eBay, the auctions everyone knows: buyers bid, others outbid them, they bid again, and the winner gets the item. Simple.

Reserve Auctions
Reserve auctions are for sellers who don't want their items to sell for less than a certain price - a concept you'll know about if you're familiar with real auctions. They work just like normal auctions on eBay, except that the buyer will be told if their bid does not meet the reserve price you set, and they'll need to bid again if they want the item. If no-one is willing to meet your price, then the auction is cancelled, and you keep the item.

Fixed Price ('Buy it Now') Auctions
Buy it Now auctions can work in one of two ways. You can add a Buy it Now button to a normal auction, meaning that buyers can choose either to bid normally or to simply pay the asking price and avoid the whole bidding process. Some sellers, though, now cut out the auction process altogether and simply list all their items at fixed price. This lets you avoid all the complications of the auction format and simply list your items for how much you want them to sell for.

Recently, eBay added a twist to fixed price auctions: the 'best offer'. This means that buyers can contact you to negotiate a price, which could be a good way to get sell some extra stock at a small discount. The only downside to reserve and fixed price auctions is that you pay a small extra fee to use these formats. In general, it is more worth using reserve auctions for higher-priced items and fixed price auctions for lower-priced ones - but remember that you can combine the two formats.

Multiple Item ('Dutch') Auctions
These are auctions where you can sell more than one of a certain item. Dutch auctions can be done by bidding. Buyers bid a price and say how many items they want, and then everyone pays the lowest price that was bid by one of the winning bidders. If you have trouble getting your head around that, then don't worry - everyone else does too! These auctions are very rare.

What is more common is when a seller has a lot of one item, and lists it using a combination of two auction types: a multiple-item fixed price auction. This just means that you can just say how many of the item you have, and offer them at a fixed price per unit. Buyers can enter how many they want and then just click Buy it Now to get them.

Now that you know about the different types of auctions, you should make sure that the items you plan to sell don't violate eBay's listing policies. The next email will let you know what's allowed and what is a big no-no.

What You Need to Know BEFORE You Get Started on eBay

By Hendra Subrata Liu

So you've decided that you want to get started as a seller on eBay. There are a few things that you really need to know before you go and throw yourself in at the deep end.

What to Sell.

First off, you need to know what it is you're going to sell: what's your speciality? You'll do far better on eBay if you become a great source for certain kind of products, as people who are interested in those products will come back to you again and again. You won't get any loyalty or real reputation if you just sell rubbish at random.

When you think about what to sell, there are a few things to consider. The most important of these is to always sell what you know. If you try to sell something that you just don't know anything about then you'll never write a good description and sell it for a good price.

You might think you're not especially interested in anything, but if you think about what kind of things you usually buy and which websites you go to most often, I'm sure you'll discover some kind of interest. If all else fails mention it to your friends and family: they'll almost certainly say "Oh, well why don't you sell…", and you'll slap your forehead.

Out of the things you know enough about, you should then consider which things you could actually get for a good enough price to resell, and how suitable they would be for posting. If you can think of something of that you're knowledgeable about and it's small and light enough for postage to be relatively cheap, then that's great!

Don't worry if you think the thing you're selling is too obscure - it isn't. There's a market for almost everything on eBay, even things that wouldn't sell once in a year if you stocked them in a shop. You'll probably do even better if you fill a niche than if you sell something common.

Tax and Legal Matters.

If you earn enough money, you should be aware that you're going to have to start paying tax - this won't be done for you. If you decide to sell on eBay on a full-time basis, you should probably register as a business.

Prepare Yourself.

There are going to be ups and downs when you sell on eBay. Don't pack it in if something goes a little wrong in your first few sales: the sellers who are successful on eBay are the ones who enjoy it, and stick at it whatever happens.

Anyone can sell on eBay, if they believe in themselves - and if you do decide it's not for you, then the start-up costs are so low that you won't really have lost anything.

If you're ready to start selling, then the next thing you need to know is the different auction types, so you can decide which ones you will use to sell your items. Our next email will give you a guide.

EBay Income Possibilities

by Hendra Subrata Liu

If you've ever read an article about eBay, you will have seen the kinds of incomes people make - it isn't unusual to hear of people making thousands of dollars per month on eBay.

Next time you're on eBay, take a look at how many PowerSellers there are: you'll find quite a few. Now consider that every single one of them must be making at least $1,000 per month, as that's eBay's requirement for becoming a PowerSeller. Silver PowerSellers make at least $3,000 each month, while Gold PowerSellers make more than $10,000, and the Platinum level is $25,000. The top ranking is Titanium PowerSeller, and to qualify you must make at least $150,000 in sales every month!

The fact that these people exist gives you some ideas of the income possibilities here. Most of them never set out to even set up a business on eBay - they simply started selling a few things, and then kept going. There are plenty of people whose full-time job is selling things on eBay, and some of them have been doing it for years now. Can you imagine that? Once they've bought the stock, everything else is pretty much pureprofit for these people - they don't need to pay for any business premises, staff, or anything else. There are multi-million pound businesses making less in actual profit than eBay PowerSellers do.

Even if you don't want to quit your job and really go for it, you can still use eBay to make a significant second income. You can pack up orders during the week and take them down to the post office for delivery each Saturday. There are few other things you could be doing with your spare time that have anywhere near that kind of earning potential.

What's more, eBay doesn't care who you are, where you live, or what you look like: some PowerSellers are very old, or very young. Some live out in the middle of nowhere where selling on eBay is one of the few alternatives to farming or being very poor. eBay tears down the barriers to earning that the real world constantly puts up. There's no job interview and no commuting involved - if you can post things, you can do it.

Put it this way: if you know where to get something reasonably cheaply that you could sell, then you can sell it on eBay - and since you can always get discounts for bulk at wholesale, that's not exactly difficult. Buy a job lot of something in-demand cheaply, sell it on eBay, and you're making money already, with no set-up costs.

If you want to dip your toe in the water before you commit to actually buying anything, then you can just sell things that you've got lying around in the house. Search through that cupboard of stuff you never use, and you'll probably find you've got a few hundred dollars' worth of stuff lying around in there! This is the power of eBay: there is always someone who wants what you're selling, whatever it might be, and since they've come looking for you, you don't even need to do anything to get them to buy it.

So you want to get started on eBay? Well, that's great! There are only a few little things you need to learn to get started. Our next email will give you the lowdown.

eBay: The First 10 Years

By Hendra Subrata Liu

Yes, you read that correctly: ten years. eBay was created in September 1995, by a man called Pierre Omidyar, who was living in San Jose. He wanted his site - then called 'AuctionWeb' - to be an online marketplace, and wrote the first code for it in one weekend. It was one of the first websites of its kind in the world. The name 'eBay' comes from the domain Omidyar used for his site. His company's name was Echo Bay, and the 'eBay AuctionWeb' was originally just one part of Echo Bay's website at ebay.com. The first thing ever sold on the site was Omidyar's broken laser pointer, which he got $14 for.

The site quickly became massively popular, as sellers came to list all sorts of odd things and buyers actually bought them. Relying on trust seemed to work remarkably well, and meant that the site could almost be left alone to run itself. The site had been designed from the start to collect a small fee on each sale, and it was this money that Omidyar used to pay for AuctionWeb's expansion. The fees quickly added up to more than his current salary, and so he decided to quit his job and work on the site full-time. It was at this point, in 1996, that he added the feedback facilities, to let buyers and sellers rate each other and make buying and selling safer.

In 1997, Omidyar changed AuctionWeb's - and his company's - name to 'eBay', which is what people had been calling the site for a long time. He began to spend a lot of money on advertising, and had the eBay logo designed. It was in this year that the one-millionth item was sold (it was a toy version of Big Bird from Sesame Street).

Then, in 1998 - the peak of the dotcom boom - eBay became big business, and the investment in Internet businesses at that time allowed it to bring in senior managers and business strategists, who took in public on the stock market. It started to encourage people to sell more than just collectibles, and quickly became a massive site where you could sell anything, large or small. Unlike other sites, though, eBay survived the end of the boom, and is still going strong today.

1999 saw eBay go worldwide, launching sites in the UK, Australia and Germany. eBay bought half.com, an Amazon-like online retailer, in the year 2000 - the same year it introduced Buy it Now - and bought PayPal, an online payment service, in 2002.

Pierre Omidyar has now earned an estimated $3 billion from eBay, and still serves as Chairman of the Board. Oddly enough, he keeps a personal weblog at http://pierre.typepad.com. There are now literally millions of items bought and sold every day on eBay, all over the world. For every $100 spent online worldwide, it is estimated that $14 is spent on eBay - that's a lot of laser pointers.

Now that you know the history of eBay, perhaps you'd like to know how it could work for you? Our next email will give you an idea of the possibilities.

10 Upsell Strategies That Will Increase Your Profits

By Hendra Subrata Liu

As you know it can be very expensive to attract new
customers. You can cut down on those expenses
by "upselling" to those new customers. For example,
let's say you're selling a computer with a 15" monitor
for $1200. You tell people they can upgrade to a 17"
monitor for only $200 more. That's upselling! Your
goal is to get more money out of the first sale. Below
are ten upselling strategies you can use to increase
your profits.

1. Deluxe Upsell-You could sell a basic product and
tell people for a little more money they can receive the
deluxe edition.

2. Money Upsell-You could offer people the rights
to sell the product they are buying from your business.
You could charge an extra $30 dollars to get the
reproduction rights.

3. Discount Upsell-If you're selling a product people
may order again in the future like shave gel, you could
offer them a second can of shave gel at a discount.

4. Time Upsell-If you're selling a product or service
people subscribe to, like a magazine, you could tell
them if they subscribe for two years instead of one,
they can receive it half off the cover price.

5. Quantity Upsell-This is similar to the discount upsell.
The only difference is you increase the discount by
how many products they order. If they order 3 it's a
10% discount, if they order 5 it's a 15% discount.

6. Package Upsell-When you're selling a product you
could offer similar products in a package deal. Tell
the people the other products are cheaper with the
package deal versus purchasing them separately.

7. Affiliate Upsell-When you're selling a product you
could offer someone else's product as an upsell. You
would have to make a commission on the product in
order to profit.

8. Free Upsell-You could offer a free sample or trial
of your product (your first sale would be free) and
then tell people if they order the full version right now
they will get a discount.

9. Extra Upsell-There are many things you could
charge extra for at the time of sale. It could be gift
wrapping, imprinting, custom designs, etc.

10. Extended Upsell-If your product comes with a
warranty, you could ask people if they would like to
extend the warranty one more year for only $30.

In conclusion, you can use one or all these strategies
to increase your profits at the point of sale. Don't be
afraid to use your imagination to come up with other
upsell strategies.

Eight No-Fail Steps for E-Commerce Marketing

By: Jamila White
"The E-Commerce DivaTM"I know how to get a blank stare from just about any e-commerce web site owner. All I have to do is ask them about their web site marketing plan!

When I ask them about their web site marketing plan, I get that look. First the eyebrows go up. Then the eyes glaze over for a minute. And then the stammering begins.

"Uh, well, you know - I have my URL on my business card."

"I, ah, I'm going to start an e-mail newsletter."

Some of them may even mention something about "search engines."

But practically no one has a plan! And you know how the old saying goes: "Failure to plan is a plan to fail."

Most small business owners I talk to are frustrated. They think their website is a big waste of money. An "online business card." A "marketing expense" that doesn't return any of its investment.

And no wonder:

You've spent thousands on a pretty web design. You shell out dough each and every month for web site hosting. You may even be paying a webmaster to update the web site regularly. And month after month, year after year, the sales barely trickle in.

Marketing your web site is frustrating. It's confusing! So we end up doing what all of us do when we're frustrated and confused: deal with it "later." And later never comes.

Know what? It's not your fault! No one ever taught you how to market on the Internet, this new medium. (They sure didn't cover that in my marketing class when I was in school.) And there's all that hype on the Internet - so called web marketing gurus who've made millions online. But guess what? The only thing they've ever sold is reports and e-books on - what else - "how to market on the Internet." They've never packed and shipped a box or ran down the street after the UPS guy.

But what if there was a formula you could follow, a step-by-step guide to creating an online sales machine?

After 10 years of marketing and selling on the web, I've boiled it down to a winning eight-step formula. This formula works for any web business, for any product from amber gemstone jewelry to zebra-print home accessories. In a nutshell, the eight no-fail steps of this formula are:

  • Define Your Goals: With no clearly defined purpose, your web site can't succeed. Be specific with each goal, adding both an amount and a timeframe.
  • Take a Snapshot:How's your web site performing now? Know your traffic stats and your "three magic numbers."
  • Define Your Market:Who are you talking to? Be specific about who your products are for, and where these customers exist.
  • Get Them There:Build targeted web traffic by getting your target audience's attention and creating an ongoing dialog.
  • Turn Site Visitors into Customers: Once you've gotten them to your web site, make sure you seal the deal before they leave. Know what they're looking for, and what information they need to make a purchasing decision. Give it to them, then ask for the sale.
  • Increase Their Spending:Would you like some fries with that hamburger? Since they've got their wallet open, ask for the add-on or upsell.
  • Get Them Back: It's cheaper to get an old customer to buy again than it is to recruit a new one. Make the experience memorable, and make the next one convenient.
  • Get Their Friends: A happy customer can be your best sales tool. Empower them to spread the word about your products and web site.

When you work each of these steps, your e-commerce marketing can't fail.

What is the most profitable internet application ?

By: Michael Lever

Have you ever wondered what the most profitable internet application is?

Web hosting?
Book or CD selling?
Merchant account providers?

You may be surprised to learn that it is none of the above although they can all be profitable in their own right (particularly industry leaders such as Amazon and Paypal).

Why did I choose the above examples?

Because they are perceived to be ideally suited to online marketing and the fact that there are so many offering those very same products/services means they have to be profitable, right? Wrong!

The problem with the above examples and for merchants in general are that for the vast majority it is just too competitive to succeed online without viable offline sales channels as well.

Without any shadow of a doubt, the most profitable of all internet applications are those that provide exchange services. That is the single most important ingredient to any online success story. The reason is simple, they match buyers and sellers of a myriad of wants and needs. Economically speaking, they match supply and demand.

Lets look at some examples.

Perhaps the most obvious success story is Ebay - an online auction service that matches buyers and sellers for an unrestricted choice of product.Other good examples are search engines like Google and Yahoo which match information demand with supply.

Another biggie is MSN messenger which matches communication desires between friends (although they face stiff opposition from mobile phones in the offline world).

And I don't want to elaborate on the hugely successful marriage of pornographic sites to the demand for sexual fantasy.

High usage demand for these exchange services means huge exposure and advertising revenue in addition to any actual cost of using the service itself.

Many wise heads have identified the huge profit potential of online exchange services. Online dating, gambling, school reunion, broking (share and real estate), affiliate networking, and even customer acquisition exchange websites all utilise the exchange application.

The trick is to go out and find a niche exchange service, one that hasn't already got 10,000,000 search listings for it. If you can be one of the first to develop and market a new exchange service then watch out - your profits will be about to soar!

Regards
Michael Lever

How To Choose An Internet Marketing Niche And Quickly Dominate It

By: Rick Miller

In a recent interview with Tellman Knudson for the List Crusade program, Shawn Casey revealed how to choose an Internet Marketing niche and crush your competition.

(Note: To access Shawn Casey's complete audio interview for free, see end of article)

Shawn's background as an attorney, author, publisher, company owner, corporate executive, public speaker, and teacher makes him uniquely qualified to show you how to be a success in Internet Marketing. Shawn is recognized one of the leading financial experts in the world. He is credited with making and saving thousands of people millions of dollars because of the valuable information he provides.

Listen closely to what Shawn has to say:

"Let's say you know something about rose gardening. You love rose gardening. You're probably an expert at it, even though you don't realize it, because this is your passion.

Your marketplace would be other people that are interested in rose gardening. You can create a report, audio, video... something that is valuable information about rose gardening... maybe how to prune them...how to do something. I don't know much about rose gardening, so I don't specifically know what that would be.

Then you go find the people who have traffic with people coming in looking to buy roses, information about how to care for their roses, what roses to plant, where to plant them, how to trim them, how to cut them, and all that cool stuff that people do.

You then go to those people who are driving in traffic and acquiring subscribers. You say to them, 'Listen, I've got this information that is of value to your visitors. So when you offer it to them, Mr. Rose Grower, you're going to be a good guy. You're giving them free information that they'd otherwise have to go down to the garden store or Home Depot and give money for. You're giving it away free. That's going to help you out and help your creditability, make your customers like you better, make you seem like a nice guy, and help you build your list.'

In turn, you get a little good will, good karma, some subscribers, and potentially customers. Obviously, you don't need to tell them this. This is just something for them to figure out. They're distributing your product that leads them back to your website so that they might buy from you. This doesn't hurt them at all because you're not competing with them directly.

Using this method, we piggyback on that related market because we provide the information, while they provide the product."

In the List Crusade interview, Shawn also revealed:

- How to ethically cheat building your list fast and cheap by leveraging your resources

- Two steps to quickly become the acknowledged expert in any niche.

- Is banner advertising dead?

- Get paid to build your list for free.

- What is the one secret way to test your website for less than $30?

As you read Shawn's secrets of how to quickly achieve success in any niche, you begin to realize the tremendous potential and knowledge you already possess. So the only question is, will you take the next step and take action today?

Perseverance

By: Ollie Rains

As a relatively new comer to internet commerce, I have indeed learned a great deal about doing business online and internet marketing!

First, it's not as easy as I perceived it would be. I thought it would be simple! Well, I have learned that without my mentor and trainer, I would not have had any idea what to do. So, if you are thinking about starting an online business, it would be wise to choose one with a really good training program, and proven leadership.

Then, I have heard a lot of negative comments in forums about online businesses and how often someone fails. I have chosen to listen only to the positive comments and make my business a success. You have to make the choice, keep on going or give up!

Giving up is easy, but failure is not. I chose to start my own online business because I wanted to succeed. I refuse to believe I am going to fail! Anything worth any time and money spent is worth perseverance.

Of course, it helps when you have chosen the right business for you, and a program that has great educational tools at your disposal. You have to believe in your product, or you have failed from the beginning. So, check out your options, and choose wisely. If you choose a business you believe in and you believe in yourself, anything is possible. Hang in there and don't give up!

Then there is the expense! Well, I look at the expenses as an investment in my future. I have learned in my lifetime, what you can expect for nothing is guess what? Nothing! So if you enter into an online business not prepared to invest time, effort and money, what you will get is nothing. However, some expenses can be minimal, if you have chosen wisely and have great leadership to teach you the tools of the trade. You will, however, have to invest some time and effort.

So, to sum up my experiences so far, perseverance, leadership, educational value, and a program you really believe in are key in choosing your online business endeavors. Choose wisely, and keep on keeping on until you reach your goals. Great success can be found by any of us if we choose wisely! And above all, believe in yourself!

How To Create A Massive Contact List, Overnight!!

By: Dan Farrell

But I'm not a writer.

You need to write what people are interested in.

Not "5 Ways To Murder Your Mother-In-Law". OOP's that is not nice of me to think of that :o)

Or "How To Make Dandlelion Wine". OK, maybe you are interested in that...:o)

But you get the idea. Write what is a hot topic that everyone is talking about or asking about. If it's about murder, go somewhere else :o)

Don't know what they are looking for? Ask them. Ask your friends or family what they would like to know more about in your subject field. Or if it's marketing put up a survey or poll form on your website or send emails to your contacts.

Browse hot forums and see what everyone is talking about. The messages with the most 'views' or 'posts' are the hot topics.

See what are the top keywords or keyword phrases at www.wordtracker.com This is an excellent place to visit for optimizing your website, mini-site pages for the search engines! Get the trial version and if its worth a few bucks subscribe.

Here are a few report ideas:
1. Tips/Ways
This is the easiest to create as all you need are a handful of themed tips with 3-7 sentence explanations. Presto! You have a free report!

2. Tutorial (step by step)
This is probably the report most people want. Find a hot topic and provide step by step tutorial on solving a problem or do something and you will become very popular...overnight!

3. Resources
This is the EASIEST of all free reports to write. Heck my granddaughter, Kylie, could probably write one :o)

Might take some time doing research but it's super easy.
"10 Ways To Link You Website""8 Tools Every Webmaster Should Have In Their Toolbox"

You get the idea.

4. Interviews
This is another easy one because someone else does all the writing for you!

Develop a list of 'burning questions to ask the 'expert'.

Send the expert your list with a good reason to answer them. At least a nice bio with a link to their website and the right to distribute the report in anyway they want.

What is probably the most important step in creating your free report? The HEADLINE! As with ads, unless you capture the attention of the reader in the first 1-2 seconds you won't have many subscribers.

Here are a few headlines:

"7 Quick Tips To Overnight Profits"
"7 Quick Tips"
"7 Quick Tips I Made $650 With"

Which one would you pick? The first? In my humble opinion it would be the last. It has two eye catching factors. 7 and $650. People will know its not a long drawn-out report but 7 quickie type tips and everyone would like to make $650 by knowing these tips.

Bottom line. Remember the old worn out by don't every forget the famous radio station, WIIFM or WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME. Keep that in mind every time you write a headline and you will see 100's or even 1,000's subscribing to your free report.

3 Business Models For Creating Wealth On The Internet

By: Sean Gum

The Internet has the potential to make you rich! I am sure you have heard it over and over again. Everybody knows you can get rich using the Internet, but how?

Over the last 8 years, I have researched hundreds of Internet business opportunities. I have purchased dozens of Get-Rich Information packs. I have listened to over 100 audiobooks on how to prosper using the Internet... I've been to countless seminars, some costing as much as $3,400 to attend! And I've tested all the tips, tricks and techniques to find out what works and what doesn't.

What I discovered was that there are three distinct business models that you can use to create wealth with the Internet. I've used all three to create an income stream of over $1 million dollars per year.

And I do it all from the comfort of my home, with no employees.

Would you like to learn how?

In this article I will give a brief overview of each of the three business models. Then, in upcoming articles I will discuss each model in greater detail along with direct links to resources I have used that are working for me RIGHT NOW!

*** ONE SECRET That All 3 Models Have In Common ***
As you learn about all of the models, you will notice one thing that they all have in common. That one thing is called "leverage."

What is leverage?
J. Paul Ghetty once said, "I would rather have 1% of the efforts of 100 men than 100% of my own efforts."

J. Paul understood leverage. Some of the models that I will present will leverage the efforts of hundreds and even thousands of other people to produce an income for you.

In other business models we'll use computers and technology to create leverage.

In either case, leverage allows you to earn money while you sleep, while you vacation, while you spend time with your family.

Leverage is the secret to financial freedom!

*** Business Model #1 - Network Marketing ***
Network Marketing, or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) has bloomed into a multi-billion dollar business. Even with all of this success, we still run into people today that call it a pyramid-scheme.

Network Marketing allows you to start a business at home that is similiar to a franchise. However, there is no franchise fee of millions of dollars. Instead, you pay a small entry fee, some as low as $35 to become a distributor. However, you get the backing of a major corporation to support you and to help you build your own home business.

You also get the opportunity to go International with your home business with some network marketing companies reaching into 60 or more countries!

MLM has come a long way, baby!

The unique thing about Network Marketing is that your upline is actually motivated to help you succeed. (Unlike a BOSS who doesn't want you to know what he knows - or you'd take his job!)

I have been (and still am) involved with 3 different network marketing companies. I will tell you about the good, the bad and the ugly in an upcoming article on Network Marketing.

*** Business Model #2 - Affiliate Programs ***
Affiliate programs have become very successful over the years. In fact, we started our own affiliate program several years ago, and saw it grow to over 3,000 affiliates in less than a year.

Basically, affiliate programs are ways that you can promote somebody else's product or service and get paid for it.

This is usually done by a banner ad, or announcement to a customer or other specialized list.

If you currently have a high traffic website, you should be participating in at least several different affiliate programs. Nowadays, there are networks of affiliate programs that take the threat of not being paid out of the picture. (It used to be a problem when everyone was running their own.)

If you have a lot of time on your hands, and no money at all to get started in Network Marketing, than this is a great option to start out with.

I will tell you where to find these networks and how to get started in an upcoming article on Affiliate Programs.

*** Business Model #3 - Information Marketing ***
This is the model I am currently using to build my next million dollars, while my business partner spends his time building our Network Marketing businesses.

What is Information Marketing?
Basically it is taking something that you love doing and writing articles, ebooks and even creating teleseminars and live seminars.
It might sound like a lot of work, but you start small and work your way up.

I will be showing you how EVERYBODY has at least one special skill or ability that can be turned into an ebook and sold online. Really!

I recently attended a seminar that cost $3,400 to attend. This 3-day seminar was packed full of hundreds of tips and techniques to build an Information Marketing business.

I will be passing what I learned onto you through several upcoming articles.

All of the business models that I have presented have the power to create six and even seven digit incomes in as little as 9 months!

I will go into *much* greater detail on each of these three business models in upcoming articles on each one. I will also be providing updates of current progress to those of you on my mailing list, so be sure to join!

God bless.

3 Internet Home Based Businesses Anyone Can Do

By: Kent Thompson

If you're serious about having a home based business, then you need to prepare. The leading reason for a failing home based business is the lack of preparation people commit after they've made a decision to start a home based business.

So what kind of home based business opportunity should you take on? Do you want to have an internet-based home business? Millions have done it, are doing it and are earning good livings doing so.

Here are three different kinds of Internet based business models you can try:

1) Be an online retailer for reputable companies. Your home based internet business can give reviews about all the products and services of these companies. Your customers will browse around your website, and then click on to the link. The link will send the customer to the company's customer service website, which takes care of processing and shipping their order.

Your home based online business website does the marketing, promoting and advertising aspects for these companies. Your commission comes from the proceeds of the sale. You don't even have to spend money for expensive e-commerce software.

2) You may not be able to bear the pain of separating from your oldest possessions, but how about auctioning these things off? For a minimal entry fee and closing fee, you can put your prized possessions on auction at Ebay or other spin-offs found on the net. This is a virtually free home based business since you don't pay for web presence. You'll get traffic since Ebay receives as many as 4 million visitors a day, and you won't need to worry about your e-commerce software. Plus your small home based internet business stays open even when you go fishing!

3) Sell information. You can start your home based internet business by writing on a subject that you enjoy or are knowledgeable about. If you can do this, then this small home based internet business is for you. Write your e-book and sell it on sites like Ebay.com, ebookAd.com, or Clickbank.com.

These home based internet business are all simple and easy enough to do. You can earn a living on these ideas if you view this small home based business with passion and commitment.

Just remember this home based internet tip:Constantly fine-tune your marketing strategy and always test new ad copies to see what brings you the most sales!

51 Ways to Make Money Online

By: Doug Purcell

The money making tips are by no means in chronological order but are in a sparse format just like my brain so sorry for not categorizing this content but its not too bad for 100% free information. Disclaimer: Free information, no promises of increase of income by reading this info What you do with this information is your decision and even though i want everyone who read this to make massive money i can't guarantee any result of income.

1. Write an info product for a well established niche, this is one of the easiest ways that i use to constantly make money online :). If your info product has anything new or innovative then it should sell well. However, just don't write the ebook! Build a business. Gather visitors emails that comes to your site and offer them complimentary products through affiliate programs. Go ahead and offer upsells, and backends, and memberships for recurring income. If your just offering an ebook your leaving potential of thousands and thousands of dollars right on the dinner table, don't think of it as "YES! I made a sale," think of it as a real business and increasing the amount of profits you make per sale.

2. Start your own online country, thats right. What i mean by this is basically your own unique online community that is catered towards a group of people that allows them to share content and information with each other. Look at myspace, facebook, and youtube. Million and Billion dollar ideas in just a couple of years.

3. Build your virtual real estate. I'm not too much of an adsense site type of guy, i'm into building businesses instead, i prefer making social networking sites that will gather people's attention... and a good way to go about this is make it FREE, thats the magic word. Once you get people to register to your site you can then allow them to share it with their friends which will help make your site grow bigger. If your website is getting traffic then you can monetize off this with adsense or by selling advertising which can be a killer money maker by you literally doing nothing.

4. Help a friend get a job. Its funny while your out to start working for yourself, you are out to know help connect people you know with better jobs. Many people are looking for jobs, just take for instance craigslist one of the most populated websites in the world has a large section for connecting employers and job seekers. Also, monster.com is also a huge network for connecting employers with job seekers as well. If you can help connect someone then the rewards could be huge, as big as in the 1000 range, not really no chicken change. Some services that you can look into is https://www.h3.com/welcome.html and http://www.jobthread.com/

5. Advertise and sell other people's products from your website which is known as affiliate marketing which is such a hot field because people are looking for ways to make money online without having their own product, and this is one that you can accomplish this. Some affiliate networks to check are commission junction, amazon, and linkshare. The popular one for selling digital product is clickbank.

6. Sell yourself :). Now, don't get it the wrong way. There are some sites online known as freelance services in which web masters or companies will pay you money if you do certain tasks for them. If you can build websites, program, or do any other technical skills then join these sites.

7. Write. This is something that anyone can do and there are no technical skills required except being able to use the computer and research. Look for writing jobs on freelance services. It will help to have a portfolio of some of your writings in order to help increase your chances of getting chosen.

8. Do you take pictures? You can sell licenses to web masters or individuals to use the photos that you take and you can usually charge a good amount for these as well.

9. Assist businesses. Yes, businesses and web masters always need help and you can help them with everyday tasks by becoming their virtual assistant.

10. Know something about a subject and love to talk? Well, you will love blogging. Blog about the topic and write in a manner that attracts people. You can monetize your site with adsense, sell affiliate programs, sell advertising, you name it. www.blogger.com is a free blogging software.

11. Don't know a thing? No worries you are not alone, but that shouldn't stop you from blogging as it doesn't stop others, you can still make money just by blogging on topics that are interesting. You can blog about your everyday tasks, blog about your plans to lose weight, or blog about your plans to make money. Some marketers have started money making challenges such as the 30K challenge, or Willie Crawford's 1 million in 90 days challenge. These type of challenges can gather huge interests in people.

12. Fill a need. I own and frequent many forums and i have come to a conclusion that people love to complain. Thats great! Whatever they are complaining about provide them a solution, this equals more money in your wallet.

13. Make money by managing domain names. For example, domain name services like sedo and afternic gets paid just for regulating domain names. This can be nice steady income for having no products to sell yourself, or by not even selling other people's products... but just by being the middleman.

14. Buy and resell domain names for quick cash. I once purchased a domain name at the right time and then flipped it for $200. Domain name flipping takes some time to master like any other skill though.

15. Purchase a domain name, build up the pr (pagerank), gain backlinks, and then sell the domain name. If you can get a pr6 domain name then you should be able to sell this for a hundred or two on ebay.

16. If you can find a domain name that is keyword rich and is getting steady traffic then purchase it and park it and watch the money come in overtime.

17. Build a house and flip it. By this i mean purchase a domain name and build a website for it and then try and sell it for profit. A popular site to sell websites is sitepoint:http://www.sitepoint.com/

18. Get paid to post in forums. I would only recommend this if you're looking for quick side cash because this is by no means a way to make a killing online. Some web masters will pay individuals to make posts at forums. Sometimes, an individual has a new forum up and running and want to get it active so they will pay individuals to post there under multiple usernames. Or, web masters could pay individuals to post on forums so that they can get more traffic to their website through signatures. Or, a webmaster could be the owner of a forum and pay forum users for each post they make in order to help them stay, and in order to help build up traffic to the forum as well.

19. Go ahead and try to start your own article directory, but you better do something to make it unique and beneficial to the article submitter. What's going to make an individual submit to your article directory as opposed to ones that they are accustomed to submitting to and "plus" get results with. The good news is most of the other article directories are doing pretty much the same exact thing that everyone else is doing, you just have to be that much different and find your unique positioning.

20. Learn the ins and outs about a large network and teach people how to use it effectively, become an expert in that field. For example, look at ebay. Even though it may be simple to use to the average Internet browser, there are still tons of people offline that has no idea about the ins or outs about it. This can be an easy way to make some extra money. Some offline services charge people a whopping sum of money just to sell their products for them on ebay, so that is something for you to think about.

21. Think of a crazy innovative idea thats newsworthy. Ever heard of the milliondollarhomepage, http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com selling worthless links? Well, it got in the news and people swarmed to the site, proof that its not incredibly hard to make big money online.

22. Moderate forums, some forums get crazy traffic and some of them also get crazy amounts of spam that needs to be moderated...badly.

23. Make funny videos and then register for an account here http://www.thevideosense.com/ and post them.

24. If you are technical then offer support for software programs especially wordpress. People are always having issues with this software and there is money to be made by installing and customizing wordpress blogs.

25. If you like surfing the Internet then AGLOCO is a program that pays you for your browsing information (at the stake of your privacy though). You will need to download their tool bar into your desktop.

26. Sell tools and useful items to myspace users like templates, layouts, and backgrounds. Too many marketers try to spam this service which is against their tos, so just build real friends and sell them cheap items that they can use on myspace, easy money! Make money on myspace by selling users things that they can use while they are on myspace.

27. Write a newsletter and im talking about a real one. A list of subscribers is an incredible asset for your business because you can keep selling to those people over and over again but at least give some good content instead of only emailing when you have something to promote. You can promote your products as long as affiliates once you build trust with your subscribers.

28. Build your own forum. There are plenty of free scripts out there that will aid you in the process such as phpbb: http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/ or simplemachines: http://www.simplemachines.org/download/. This is an incredible way to monetize on giving something away for free. When people register they will enter their email and this is an unorthodox way to build a list. Not only that but you can build multiple streams of income by selling advertising as well as monetizing the forum with adsense. Heck, you can even offer products as discounts to forum members, sell your own products, offer co-registration, the options are limitless.

29. Learn seo (search engine optimization), it can be very profitable for you in the long run. Web masters tend to be too busy and that is one reason why many do not get where they want, they cant manage their time too well. So, you can offer to get web masters links to their sites by writing and submitting articles to directories and even optimizing their pages for them.

30. Start selling on ebay, ebay is a goldmine. See what is currently selling hot here http://pulse.ebay.com/ and see if you can find any whole sellers with these items an affordable rate. Make sure that you're dealing with a reputable seller because there are many scams in this industry so beware.

31. Create an award website. Awards have been tested to increase the credibility of a website (which equals more money) so make a website with a fancy logo and offer it to web masters that meet your award's standards.

32. Make money online by researching and finding statistics, facts, or quotes for individuals that needs them.

33. Write articles. Some networks will give you money for how many view certain articles that you write get. Here is one such network:http://www.associatedcontent.com/.

34. Learn the ins and outs of myspace, a lot of web masters are looking for people to do marketing for them on myspace and if you know about this network then you can make some money by offering your expertise.

35. Make money by referring individuals to paypal and ebay. Yes, these both have affiliate programs (doesn't pay much) but this could be an easy way to make money if you know people that are looking for ways to make money online.

36. Try using Co registration to generate some money online. What this means is that a company or service will pay you money when you can generate a lead for them. For example, you place a text banner on your site and once the individual clicks they will usually be sent to a form in which they can enter their personal information, and once they have done that you get paid for it. Its obvious that to get people to enter their "personal information" online you must have an incentive offer or copy, because people are fearful of spam (i am too). However, this shouldn't discourage you because this is very possible though. Some companies are so good at this that they get people to enter their credit card information in the forms so thats something to boost your confidence.

37. Are you skilled at photoshop? I see a lot of talented individuals on online forums that be photo shopping images like crazy. You can seriously turn this skill into a business by start offering photo shopping services to web masters or individuals that are looking for such work.

38. If you can photoshop then try selling your images on ebay because you never know, some people could very well purchase it. You never know if your images will become the next Internet phenomenon.

39. Are you knowledgeable in anything? Come on, i know you are smart in something everybody is good at least one thing... even me :). Well, what you could do is offer a inexpensive tutorial that teaches an individual how to learn the particular subject in an easy to follow manner.

40. Can you do screen printing for t shirts? Well, you are most likely an alternative to an online service www.cafepress.com. You can upload images of t shirts or what type of works you do at photo sharing services such as www.flickr.com.

41. Are you good at audio? You can get paid money to turn written text into audio or to turn audio into text (transcription).

42. Can you speak more then one language? Some companies or web masters may want text translated into more then one language.

43. Like software and scripts? Can you install these things? Webmasters who are not as technical may need your help, look around on freelance services to see who you can cater to.

44. This is to those who are always anxious to get money fast online. This is about the quickest way that i know to make money online. First, you join affiliate programs, and second you send traffic to your affiliate link through Google adwords. However, this takes some prior experience to master, such as being able to pick the appropriate keywords.

45. Can you code software? If so then you should code a software that will fix a much needed problem, there are many software coders selling their inventions online for good money.

46. Offer online tutoring. There are always people looking to learn something new and the Internet makes it not only easier for you to do so but also effective. Never before have there been such an easier way to communicate with individuals live from all the way across the globe. By having your own website on your own server, you will help make yourself stand out from the majority of your competition.

47. Like sports? Make a sports site of some sort and monetize it with one of the methods that i mentioned earlier. Golf is a very expensive sport which makes this a good niche to tap into.

48. Start a website that relies 100% on backends. This is an easy way to make money and to also get individuals to sign up to your website. Just look at ebay, and paypal. Both websites are FREE to join and sign up but there are many hidden fees. It costs every time you receive money through paypal, and it costs every time you sell something on ebay, it relies 100% on backend sells a nice and effective business structure.

49. Try network marketing. One of the fastest ways that an individual can grow their business is by leveraging the resources of others and a lot of beginning online business owners are always looking for other web masters to partner with. If you can help broker or bring webmasters together, then this may be a profitable business for you in the end. You could charge money for each connection that is made.

50. Online dating is a popular niche and there are many affiliate programs that pay you for each lead that you give them which can be some easy money if you know a lot of people. Or, if you have a unique idea you can go about forming your own dating site.

51. Form a network that will connect people. Whether its to connect old high school friends, old college friends, long lost friends, singles looking for dates, or people looking to share anything. These types of sites usually do very well and usually grow fast because of the built in viral mechanisms in them. Just look at youtube, worth over 1 billion dollars and is no more then two years old. It makes it easy for people to share things with their friends... the powerful aspect of viral marketing.

Conclusion
In conclusion of this article 51 surefire ways to make money online, I wanted to show people who are new to internet marketing or who are interested in making money online that there are ways (and lots of them) to make money online.

The options are limitless so you just need to find out what you think will be the most suitable way for you because everyone has different interests. A couple of suggestions, I would recommend concentrating on a couple of these ways to make money... there are but so many hours in a day and the more rabbits you try to chase the less you may actually catch. Also, some tips that I mentioned are for building up short term money, short term money is like quick cash.

You need it to get money so that you can reinvest in your business, but its nothing to build an online business on. So, what I recommend is try experimenting with some of these techniques and once you start making small money thats GOLD! You already done the first step you just need to keep testing and tweaking your experiments until you can maximize the most profit out of it and always go with building businesses as opposed to keep getting quick money... a business is much more profitable and reliable. Take care and hope you enjoyed.
